Every Team Is Beatable
While the teams we expected to win round 4 of the 2026 Women's Rugby Six Nation did in fact dominate the scoreline, the losing squads didn't take it lying down. In fact, they proved that even the best still have weaknesses. And on the same weekend the internationals were playing with something to prove, so were the Brookline Warriors, the high school team I coach. Going up against a team that has bested you in the past, that is on the stat sheet better than you, is such a men

If Defense Wins Rugby Games, It Certainly Loses Them Too
I think I have to eat my words from week one! Round two of the 2026 Women's Six Nations exposed how much defense makes an impact on the result of a rugby game. Now possession isn't everything when it comes to scoring trys, but it certainly doesn't hurt. A team that has more possession has more chances to score and less chances of being scored on. Wales’ win over Italy was a statement about resilience , not dominance. Their win came down to controlling the tempo and playing like men possessed. After a

Multi-Phase Attack In Modern Test Rugby
Week 4 of the Men's Six Nations felt like a masterclass in how modern test rugby is actually won. Not by miracle offloads or one‑off moments of brilliance (of which we had plenty), but by the relentless, suffocating grind of multi‑phase attack. The teams that embraced that reality walked away with statement wins. The ones that didn’t? They were exposed by their inability to defend for more than two or three phases at a time.

Wales vs Scotland: Mistakes Matter
Who would've thought Wales would put on such a show?! This was more than a game, it was a clash, a match swung not because of the quantity of mistakes, but because of the timing of them. On paper, Scotland finished with more handling errors (12 to 2) and more turnovers conceded (15 to 4). But the story on the field told a very different tale.
